Plain form (普通形)Plain (casual) style
Plain form
ます → dictionary/ない/た forms; です → だ. Used with close people.
あした 京都へ 行く。
あした きょうとへ いく。
I'm going to Kyoto tomorrow. (casual)
Plain style swaps the polite endings for plain ones: 行きます→行く, 行きません→行かない, 行きました→行った. It is used with family and close friends; the polite ます-style stays for everyone else.

N / な-adj だです → だ (plain)
Plain form
In plain style, です becomes だ (often dropped in casual speech).
これ、わたしの 本だ。
これ、わたしの ほんだ。
This is my book. (casual)
Nouns and な-adjectives use だ as the plain copula (past だった). In casual conversation だ is often omitted, especially by women: これ、わたしの 本.
Casual yes/no questions drop か and just rise in intonation: ごはん 食べる?

[plain]と 思いますと思います — I think that
Opinion / quote
Plain-form clause + と 思います = “I think that …”.
あした 雨が 降ると 思います。
あした あめが ふると おもいます。
I think it will rain tomorrow.
The content of your thought is a plain-form clause marked by と before 思います. Use this for opinions and guesses.
47
「…」と 言いますと言います — say that / quote
Opinion / quote
と marks a quote before 言います. Direct quotes use 「」.
田中さんは 「あした 休みます」と 言いました。
たなかさんは 「あした やすみます」と いいました。
Mr Tanaka said, “I'll take tomorrow off.”
と quotes speech or thought before 言います. A direct quote keeps the original wording in 「」; an indirect quote uses the plain form before と.

V-ないで くださいないでください — please don't
Nai-form
ない-form + で ください asks someone NOT to do something.
ここに 車を 止めないで ください。
ここに くるまを とめないで ください。
Please don't park your car here.
The ない-form is the plain negative (行きます → 行かない, 食べます → 食べない, する → しない, 来る → 来ない). Add で ください for a negative request.
